AT&T Adds Lenovo IdeaTab A2107

T-Mobile may be done with the idea of carrier subsidies, but AT&T is ready to just pile them on. In the category of 7" tablets, Lenovo's A2107 is not too bad of a deal. Some specs don't quite match up to the N7; for example the screen is a little lower resolution, it only runs Android 4.0, and the processor is a little less powerful. However, where those aspects lack, this slate makes up for it with front and rear cameras and a 3G radio at a lower introductory price point. AT&T today has announced it now plans on carrying this unit in its stores, offering the device for $200 off contract.

If you want to save a little money up front, though, you can get a two-year contract that will knock $100 off the price tag, bringing it down to a fairly easy-to-swallow $99. What might be more difficult to stomach, though, is paying a 3G data bill for 24 months on a device that already lags behind six-month old hardware. For the curious, here are the essential specs:
  • 7" 1024x600 350 nit display
  • 1GHz Cortex A9 processor
  • 1GB DDR2 RAM (512MB for Wi-Fi models)
  • 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB storage options
  • microUSB, microSD card slot
  • 10 hour battery life
  • Android 4.0
Customers who opt for the data plan can add this tablet to an existing Mobile Share account for $10/month, or get a standalone DataConnect plan. The Lenovo A2107 is on sale at AT&T's website right now.
